We’re all about destroying acne myths. It’s what we’re good at. There are a couple of things that we would like to get straight regarding advertising claims on product labels. Hopefully you find our list as enlightening as we did.
- You cannot cleanse deep down inside pores. You can only clean the surface of the skin. Everything from facial masks, brushes, and machines will only affect the surface of the skin. It is physically impossible to go deep into the pores. Acne prone people should definitely take heed. Acne impactions lie two millimeters below the skin, and it is the oil being produced down there that is causing your issue. While products may cleanse the surface of the skin, they are unable to resolve the problem within the pore.
- The size and shape of your pores cannot be changed. While products may claim to reduce pore size, your pore size is already genetically predetermined. They cannot be “opened” or “closed.” This is because they lack the muscles required to accomplish this. The only way a pore opening changes size is when an impaction like a blackhead pushes its way to the surface and dilates the opening.
- Heat does not open pores/cold does not close pores. The opposite actually takes place. When heat is applied, it causes the surrounding skin to plump up and essentially closes off the pore. Cold water really doesn’t do anything.
No amount of soap and water will wash away acne, or any skin condition for that matter. In order to resolve a problem, you have to solve it at it’s root. Be aware, that acne is a condition that is occurring deep within the skin.
